Organ at Stratford Summer Music - 2006

Metzger smallWednesday July 26 to Sunday July 30, 2006 - Stratford, Ontario, Canada

PROFESSOR HERIBERT METZGER, born in Vienna, received his tuition in organ-playing from Prof. Alois Forer at the famed Musikhochschule in Vienna. As a prize winner in international competitions – in 1972 he was awarded the Bach prize in Leipzig – he has given concerts in many parts of Europe and also served as a juror in several national and international competitions.

At the centre of his musical interest lies the organ music of J.S. Bach, to which also his dissertation at Salzburg University was directed. Since 1975 he has taught at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg; where in 1988 he was made professor of organ and organ improvisation. In September 2005 he was appointed as organist of the Salzburger Dom, the Roman Catholic Cathedral of the City of Salzburg.
